#2 POST of the day

It’s the second post of already! The problem that i am going to address today is something which i am guilty of : Lack of proper cleaning procedures

After a long day in school, from project meetings, classes, gym and dinner i would more often than not feel very tired!!Just like today, i feel exhausted though i had sooOO much fun over dinner with my loves.

awesome dinner with my girls till late

And usually whenever i remove or wear my contact lenses, i would only use saline solution to rinse and wash the lenses and for the past 8 years of my life, i always though that it was sufficient and that it was the proper cleaning method. ALAS, due to an eye infection that happened a year ago, my optician told me that i haven been conducting the right cleaning procedures at all. She held my lenses under the light and made me observe the tiny white substance on my lenses which are so called protein produced by my eye to fight like bacteria or stuffs as a result of my improper cleaning procedure. I was really frightened by it, cuz i always thought i had clean it properly. So after the incident, i have learnt that the proper procedure for cleaning contact lenses would be:

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly before handling your contact lenses.
  2. Perform all contact lens care steps (clean, rinse, disinfect!) every time you remove your lenses from your eyes. YOU SHOULD RUB AND RINSE to make sure that it is clean!

    Rinse and RUB!
  3. Use only fresh contact lens care solutions that are recommended by your eyecare professional — and never tap water!

use fresh solution to store lenses
  4.  Store contact lenses in contact lens case and soak with solution.

Store it in a container 🙂

these steps should be adhere to every single time you remove your lenses. It may seem and sound easy but we should never allow our laziness to give us the excuse to skip any single step! I too feel lazy at times to perform these procedures but remember :

Always ensure the health of your eyes, for you’ll be rewarded with sights truly worth keeping!
