It’s my first out of the seven posts for “At first Sight” campaign. Truthfully, I’m really excited to write this post as it’s my first time doing this kind of things. So please bear with me if you find my post lengthy or boring, well just hang in there and just keep reading on. I’m sure it would be a meaningful post and that you will learn something awesome and useful from it!

I just received my Ambassodor kit from karyn! thanks for making your way down to SMU to pass me the bag. Love the polka dot bag which looks so sweet and i’m so excited about the cosmetic lenses cuz i have never used it before. Photos time of the Ambassador kit!

The human eye is an important organ which enable us to see all the BEAUTIFUL things in the world, thus it is essential for us to really take good care of it. I know we always say things like :”aiya, once in a while only, nevermind lahh, we wun so easily get eye infection” or “this kind of things will never happen to me!” and truthfully, i confess i am also one of the culprits who say such things, i have learn to realise that “prevention is better than cure”, so this is why i participated in this campaign.

The recent news about increasing number of youths suffering from eye infections due to the purchasing of contact lenses from blog shops has made me thinking alot these days. Being students, our love for better appearance and convenience but lack of resources ($) have resulted in some of us resorting to purchase contact lenses from unauthorized retailers to save $ and to reduce costs. Well, i can totally understand cuz from our meager allowances, we have to plan to save, eat, shopping, transportation costs and blah blah blah. How is these allowances enough??  It is indeed true that buying from unauthorized retailers like blog shops could be a cheaper option, but what are the dangers of buying from these retailers and is it worth it to putting your eye health on the line?

WORTH IT?

There has been a case last year where a 17 year old teenage girl bought a pair of colored contact lenses from online sources, never thinking that it could be dangerous. What started out as a bid to save money soon developed into a contact lens induced infection that resulted in pain and redness in the young lady’s left eye. She had to be admitted into the hospital and treated with antibiotics and corticosteroids before her condition eventually improved. Therefore think twice before clicking on that check-out button at the online contact lenses blog shop. You might just end up paying way more than you bargained for.

Back to the topic on cosmetic lenses, i have been lucky to be entitled 2 pairs of Misaki contact lenses to try out as part of this campign. Misaki was established in 2009 in Singapore and was awarded a certificate of Registration to HSA TS-01:R2 Good Distribution Practice for Medical Devices Management System. It has attained OEM manufacturer certification with factory in Korea. As we all know that Korea is well-known for its technology for cosmetics and personal beauty products, it definitely seem like it a safe and trustworthy cosmetic brand to consider. Their contact lenses even has this S.P Process which is said to “infiltrate the cosmetic colour between the inside and outside layer of the contact lens, which makes the wearing feeling comfortable and the colour is not decolourized.” HMMM interesting~ (to find out more about misaki, click here : http://misakicon.com/index.php)

Additionally, They offer a wide variety of products with up to 6 series and many different colors for individuals to choose from. I remembered that i was spoilt for choice when i was asked to select one of the product. They have series like tone natural colors ( to suit the serious side of you, or for first timers who are afraid to try something too different) to like series such as 4 tone colors and circle and emotion. Misaki contact lenses are available and distributed in various optical shops: http://www.misakicon.com/wheretobuy.php

Coming to the end of my first post already, well it seems damn wordy and lengthy right?? To sum it up, it is important that we always purchase from authorized & reliable retailers, why put our eye at risk just for that few dollars of savings? In exchange for better quality and a peace of mind, it is still better to buy from licensed opticians or retailer.

At the end of the day the take-home message i hope you peeps will remember is that

” Always ensure the health of your eyes, for you’ll be rewarded with sights truly worth keeping! “
