anyways if you have missed the previous post, i would mention briefly again what is this project about.

“At First Sight” is a youth oriented contact lens care campaign that stresses the importance of proper cleaning and tending of contact lenses amongst university students. The campaign arises due to an increasing trend of contact lens usage by youths for the purpose of a beautified appearance. However, a negligence to properly contact lens care results in a higher risk of eye infections and other eye health problems. “At First Sight” hopes to communicate the message of prioritizing eye health above appearances because the sights you share with your loved ones are the sights truly worth keeping.

In my opinion, i feel that this is a rather meaningful project. I have been wearing contact lenses for like 10 years, ever since i was like 12. The reason why i started wearing it was mainly because my mother wanted to stabilize my eyesight which was increasing at a scary rate and since hard lens was said to be able to stabilize one’s degree, i started wearing contacts. It is true that my myopia degree stabilized and i have grown to love contact lenses because of the many benefits that it has brought for me, BUT now i suffer from astigmatism and also  eye infections once in a while because i’m really lazy to practice good contact lens care.  It’s a common problem, ikr, it’s like school is so crazy, hectic and stressful already, who will be in the right mind to carry out all the procedures for good contact lens care. But for every action we take, there are consequences to bear. I really hope that through this campaign, more people will be aware of the need to practice good contact lens care and be aware that they are not alone that they are facing these problems too 🙂

As an ambassador, i will be doing a doing for the 7-Day Challenge starting on the 8th of Feb. During this  7-Day Challenge, i will be blogging daily on valentine’s day week and address the key problems identified by At First Sight which are:

  1. Wearing contact lens for prolonged period of time.
  2. Wearing contact lens pass its replacement date
  3. Purchasing from unauthorized retailers
  4. Using cosmetic lenses daily
  5. Lack of proper cleaning procedures and regular eye checks
